Welcome
To introduce the new website, I’m featuring some fieldwork I carried out in Nigeria in 2003 for the World Bank, looking at conflict between farmers, fishers and herders in the use of the fadama (wetlands) of the River Niger. We carried out participatory research in Kebbi State (north-west) and Imo State (south-east). You can read the original working paper here: Study of Resource Use Conflict .
The study included an exploration of gendered roles, relations and attitudes… If we focus on women and children in the equation, a different picture emerges, as I summarised in a short article afterwards: Gender Livelihoods and Conflict in Nigeria .
